The second annual Labour Market Information (LMI) conference was held in the Trinity Hall of the Canadian Coptic Centre on March 7, 2014. Like its predecessor, this event was an extension of the NCON professional development conferences that PHWDG has presented for the last five years. About 50 representatives from NCON member organizations attended the event to hear speakers discuss the newcomer experience in Canada.

The opening presentation, titled “Understanding Diaspora Networks to Leverage Immigrant Impact”, was delivered by Nouman Ashraf, Research Fellow, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. It was followed by “Survival Strategies of Toronto Immigrant Communities: Working in the Shadow Economies” co-presented by Diane Dyson, Director, Research & Public Policy, WoodGreen Community Services and by Dr. Nasima Akter, Executive Director, Bangladeshi-Canadian Community Services (BCS).
